Gimcheon Sangmu shook off the Gimpo FC jinx to keep pace with Busan I-Park at the top of the table.
Gimcheon won their Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 Round 37 home match against Gimpo 2-0 at 6:30 p.m. on the 29th at Gimcheon Sports Complex.
With the win, Gimcheon extended its winning streak to five games and closed the gap on leader Busan (67 points) back to two points. With the victory, the gap to third-placed Gimpo widened to eight points, as they remain unbeaten in two matches against Gimpo this season. Gimpo will have to wait until next week for a chance to secure third place.
The home team Gimcheon started with a 4-3-3. Lee Jun-seok, Lee Young-joon, and Choi Byung-chan led the front three, while Kim Jin-gyu, Won Doo-jae, and Kang Hyun-mook played in the midfield. Park Min-gyu, Kim Jae-woo, Lee Sang-min, and Lee Yoo-hyun were in charge of the back defense, and Kim Jun-hong was in goal.
The away team, Gimpo, lined up in a 3-5-2. Lewis and Yoon Min-ho were paired up top. Song Jun-seok and Park Kwang-il spread out on the flanks, while Kim Yi-seok, Lee Sang-hyuk, and Jang Yun-ho played in the midfield. The back three was Kim Tae-han, Park Kyung-rok, and Cho Sung-kwon, with Park Cheong-hyo in goal.
Gimcheon and Gimpo battled fiercely in the first half. Neither team had much of a chance until midway through the first half.
Gimcheon opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a right-footed shot from a breakaway by Lee Jun-seok. In the 31st minute, Kim Jin-gyu’s right-footed mid-range shot hit the side netting.

After the second goal, Gimcheon took off Lee Joon-seok and Kim Jin-gyu, who shared the two goals, and introduced Kim Dong-hyun and Kim Jun-bum to stabilize the game in the remaining time.
Gimpo fought back to score a goal in the remaining time. Gimcheon brought on Yoon Jong-gyu and locked the back door. There were no more goals and Gimcheon won 2-0.
