‘Seven-run support didn’t help’… NC Tanner slammed for 5 runs in 2 innings

NC Dinos starting pitcher Tanner Tully (28) was ejected early.

Tanner threw 62 pitches in two innings, allowing five runs (one earned) on five hits (one home run) with three walks and two strikeouts in his start against the SSG Landers in Game 3 of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO Postseason Semifinals at 6:30 p.m. at NC Park in Changwon.

Initially, “Super Ace” Eric Peddy was the favorite to start Game 3. However, after Peddy complained of discomfort after a workout on the 23rd, NC turned to Tanner in his place.

Tanner is 5-2 with a 2.92 ERA this season. Not quite up to Peddy’s standards, but a solid performance nonetheless.

Still, there were concerns. Tanner struggled in Game 1 of the wild-card decider against the Doosan on April 19, giving up five runs in four innings. His overall command wasn’t great, with most of his pitches being hit on the ground, and in this game, Tanner was taken off the mound early due to some risky pitches.

Tanner, who was coming off five days of rest after the wild-card game against Doosan, got off to a shaky start in the top of the first inning when he gave up a leadoff single to Shin-Soo Choo. But he got Guillermo Heredia to fly out to second and Choi Jeong to fly out to left field for the second out. Two batters later, Tanner gave up a single to Han Yoo-seom to put runners on second and third, but he got Ha Jae-hoon to fly out to shortstop to end the first inning. 온라인카지노

In the top of the second, Tanner got leadoff hitter Park Sung-ho to ground out to shortstop. He then gave up back-to-back singles to Kim Sung-hyun and Oh Tae-gon, but struck out Kim Min-sik on a wild pitch.

Still, Tanner couldn’t settle down. He gave up a walk to Choo Shin-soo, followed by a pushing double to Heredia, and then a grand slam to Choi Jeong in left field, giving up five runs in quick succession. Tanner struck out Han Yoo-seom on a wild pitch to end the inning.

Tanner gave up a walk to leadoff hitter Ha Jae-hoon in the top of the third, prompting NC to pull Tanner early and bring in Lee Jae-hak. Lee pitched a scoreless third inning, bringing Tanner’s final run total to five.
