‘Back-to-back goals by Baek Seung-ho and Jung Woo-young,’ Hwang Sun-hong-ho concedes first Asian Games goal… Korea leads 2-1 over Kyrgyzstan

The South Korean Asian Games football team, led by Hwang Sun-hong, faces Kyrgyzstan in the Round of 16 men’s football match at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET at the Jinhua Sports Center Stadium in Zhejiang, China.

South Korea lined up in a 4-3-3 formation. Jung Woo-young, Park Jae-yong, and Uhm Won-sang formed the back three. Jung Ho-yeon, Baek Seung-ho, and Lee Kang-in were in the middle. The back four consisted of Seol Young-woo, Park Jin-seop, Kim Tae-hyun, and Hwang Jae-won. Lee Kwang-yeon was in goal. Kyrgyzstan lined up in a 5-3-2 formation. Aligulov and Ilyichbek partnered up top. The midfield consisted of Abilov, Mezitov, and Kanibekov. The backline was Bekverdinov, Baktybekov, Kumarbai, Akhilbekov, and Nurlan. The goalkeeper’s gloves were worn by Priadkin. On the bench were Nusupov, Nurlanbekov, Nasirov, Nurmat, Bekverdinov, Kerezbekov, Sarsenbekov, and Toktosunov.

Kyrgyzstan took the first shot. In the sixth minute, Seol Young-woo went down after a contest with Aligulov, but the whistle was not blown. He reached the box and took a shot, but it went wide. South Korea fought back. In the eighth minute, Jung Woo-young capitalized on a smart pass from Lee Kang-in to break through. He got to the danger area, but his shot went wide right.

South Korea had a goal ruled out for offside. In the 32nd minute, Lee Kang-in played the ball into the penalty box with a sharp left foot. Jung Woo-young broke down the defense and collected the long ball. The one-on-one rattled the net, but the referee called for offside. In the 45th minute, Lee Kang-in crossed and Jung Woo-young headed the ball, but it was blocked in front of the keeper. The rest of the half was scoreless.
