After being ejected from the previous day’s game for an umpire’s call, LG foreign-born hitter Austin Dean was all smiles after hitting a game-winning home run the next day.
The LG Twins extended their winning streak to four games with an 8-4 victory over the Kiwoom Heroes of the 2023 KBO League at Jamsil Baseball Stadium on Wednesday.
LG’s foreign-born outfielder Austin Dean hit a two-run shot off McKinney in the fifth inning with his team leading 3-2 to drive in the winning run.
The previous day against Jamsil Kiwoom, Austin was ordered out of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, when the score was tied 3-3, after protesting against umpire Song Soo-geun’s decision to call him out for striking out.
Austin, who was called out for striking out on Jang Jae-young’s four-pitch fastball that came in at 1B 2S, was furious and appealed to the umpire, throwing his helmet and bat in the process.
Austin, who left the field in a very emotional mood, was greeted by the fans with a completely different look.
In the bottom of the fifth inning with his team leading 3-2, Austin batted first and aggressively swung at McKinney’s first pitch.
McKinney’s 131-mph changeup was right on the body of the pitch, and Austin pulled it for a two-run home run over the left field fence.
The ball sailed over the left field fence and into the top of the bleachers. It was a big home run that traveled 130.6 meters and hit 174.3 kilometers per hour.
Austin’s face lit up with a huge smile. Austin rounded the bases, stepped on home plate, and raised his hands to count the money. 스포츠토토
It was a 180-degree change from the furious Austin the day before. Austin headed to the dugout to celebrate his home run with Kim Hyun-soo, the leadoff hitter.
The dugout was a cauldron of excitement. The twins huddled together in the dugout, shoulder to shoulder, waiting for Austin to arrive, and ended the ceremony by jumping up and down and hugging each other. Austin hit a home run and drew three walks in the game to help his team to victory.
