Mickey van der Vaart’s move to Tottenham Hotspur is imminent.
Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Thursday (April 4) that “Van der Vaart is going to Tottenham. The transfer fee is in the neighborhood of €50 million with bonus options. He will undergo a medical in the next 24 hours. The contract runs until 2028.”
Tottenham underperformed last season. Antonio Conte, who was hired midway through last season, led the team to the UEFA Champions League (UCL), but was unable to sustain the momentum. Conte was eventually relieved of his duties in March after poor results and controversial comments. Tottenham then finished the season with an acting manager.
It didn’t work. Last season, they were again relegated. They were eliminated from the UCL, the English FA Cup, and the English Football League Cup (EFL Cup) early on. The team was also unable to compete in the English Premier League (EPL), finishing in eighth place. This resulted in the team not competing in Europe at all the following season.
Now, they are preparing for the next season with a new manager. Tottenham have appointed Enze Postecoglou, who has proven his leadership skills at Celtic. Postecoglou has been at the helm of Celtic since 2021, and he made an immediate impact. In his first season in charge, Celtic won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup, making it a double.
Last season, he completed the ‘Domestic Treble’ (winning three domestic titles). They won the league, the League Cup, and the FA Cup. Tottenham, who had been looking for a new manager, expressed interest and finally got their man. Postecoglou will officially start his job in July. He signed a four-year contract.
Now, Postecoglou will have to take stock of Spurs’ current squad and look for resources that fit his philosophy. He’ll need to keep key players like Harry Kane, who has been rumored to be on his way out, as well as identify players who are set to return from loan. He also seems to have asked for the right reinforcements in the positions he needs. 먹튀검증
Recruitment is already well underway. The likes of Dejan Kulusebski and Pedro Foro have been fully recruited from loan spells, and new recruits are arriving all the time. We’ve added Manor Solomon to the flanks, James Maddison to the midfield, and Guglielmo Vicario as our next first-choice goalkeeper.
Our next goal is to bolster the defense, and van der Vaan is the next candidate. Van der Vaart is a Dutch center back born in 2001. The 6-foot-3 center back is known for his ability to dominate possession and has been playing for Follendam in the Netherlands and Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga since 2021.
