How to install 12 awesome Pico-8 demos

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, visit our blog post Presenting the virtual console Pico-8 -, today I want to teach you how to enjoy some of the demos made by awesome programmers!

It’s really simple, let’s do it step by step.

Step 1

In order to start you must have your virtual console already installed. If by any chance you don’t have it, you can download it from the Official Pico-8 website.
Once you are done with the installation process, you must run it. You will see something like this:

IMPORTANT: to get out of full screen mode press ALT+ENTER

Step 2

Type install_demos in your console. This command will install all the 12 available demos.

install_demos pico8

Step 3

To start playing them, we must move to the right directory. In orden to do that type ls or dir to list all files and check the folder’s name where they got installed.

ls pico8

Step 4

After that we must type cd demos. This command moves us to the demo directory. If everything go as expected, typing ls will list all our games.

cd ls demos

Step 5

Time to choose the game you want to play! Write load game_name (game_name must be replace with the actual game you will play). Now you can press CTRL + R or just type run.

run pico 8

You did it! Now it’s time to have some fun.
